The streets of Leeds are no more dangerous than any other major city in the UK. However, the decisions you make and the actions you take can put you more at risk when on the streets around the city, the university and your rented accommodation or home.

The key to staying safe is to be aware of your surroundings and where you are walking, and also the signs and signals you are giving off to other people. This section of the site has tips on how to be as safe as possible on the streets.

Being safe does not mean changing your lifestyle or things like what you wear. The tips in this section are for everybody to help make their time living in Leeds as enjoyable as possible.
